School punishments?
I get there and there is Dillon and his teacher sitting there waiting for me. I walk in and ask so whats going on? I am told by the teacher the story and here it is:
The teacher was setting up for a game, which uses white board markers. Every student supplies their own here. Another classmate took Dillons markers and he asked for them back. The classmate wouldn't give them back to him. He asked 3 times, then went to an adult and asked for help. No success, so he reached over and grabbed his markers back from this classmate. About an hour later this classmate is crying and saying that Dillon left a mark on her arm from when he grabbed the markers. So now it is a big issue, because this person is crying and has a small mark the size of the tip of your pinkie on her arm.
So I hear this and ask what time did this all take place? Oh earlier today, before lunch. It is now 2:00. I ask why wasn't I called earlier when it happened? Because at the time there was no mark and this classmate wasn't crying, so it wasn't an issue. I am getting mad at this point. And ask another question. So how do you know this mark came from this incident? "Oh some kids said it did, but I didn't see it happen. So now we need to talk about punishment."
My son lost his recess for the next day, had to write an apology to this classmate, and a letter to the school. I had to sign a paper saying that my son" Was threatening and bullying another student, and had hurt them intentionally. I was STEAMING MAD!! If my son had not been there, I would have lost it. As I do not agree with this at all. My kids have been pushed down on the playground, my son has been bullied for 4 years by the same kid until he transferred to another school. I bring this to there attention and NOTHING IS DONE to these students who are picking on my kids. But because this kid is crying, we need to go through all these Bull*@* steps and have my son have a perment mark on his school record.
Now, I don't agree that grabbing the marker was the best thing for him to do, but where were the adults that were to help?? Why did this take hours for me to be notified and this mark to appear?? How do they really know it was from this incident and not from something else??????
My son has always walked away from fights and people teasing him, so I am steamed about this whole thing. But I am told it is school policy to handle it this way when a mark appears and the other child is crying.
My son does admit to grabbing the markers and he said maybe he touched her arm when he grabbed them, but I refuse to punish him here at home for it. When the school asked what his punishment was. I said nothing, as I dont' think this mark was from my son, and if it was it was not intentional. Accidents happen and I believe a little wiggle room is called for.
So am I right to be steamed or is this the way it goes in schools??

Carpet cleaning!
So on Saturday as we were doing our budgeting, we saw some extra cash from my job. Hubbys 1st thought was new carpeting for the living room! I was all for it, so I checked out carpet installers in our area, found one. Then checked out discount carpet stores, as our living room isn't that big and a remenant would be perfect. We decided to go to a larger town on Sunday and see if we could buy some carpet!! I was super excited!!! Then.................... my 10 year old son walked through the living room with muddy shoes. My husband looked at him and said " you can't walk in here with muddy shoes, go take them off!" My son turned around and walked back through the living room with his muddy shoes. ( the entry way and front door were 3 feet away) That was the end of my new carpet dreams. As hubby turned to me and said. " you can't have new carpeting, we have kids. It would just drive you and us nuts."
So we settled on buying a carpet cleaner. I did my research Saturday and we went looking on Sunday. I had 2 choices in mind, and at 1st could only find my 2nd choice. Hubby didn't want me to get that one, as he said " YOU are only going to buy one, so make sure it is the one you want." So on we went from store to store until finally we found my 1st choice. The Bissell Proheat 2X healthy home. Of course it wasn't on sale, and we are a frugal family, so I didn't want to buy it, but hubby picked it up put it in the cart and checked it out. The cleaner was $284. Alot of money for us to spend at one time. (He also had to purchase my dyson vaccuum, as I thought it was spendy, but that is another story)
Monday morning bright and early I get up and start cleaning the living room carpet. Hubby says to me" You are going to do it today?" I'm like I didnt' spend that amount of money to let it sit in a box!!!
The carpet was so icky and disgusting! When we moved in it was white, we have 4 kids so you can imagine how gray/black it was. The carpet cleaner did wonderful!! We went over it once with shampoo and could see a huge improvement, we then started to rinse it. Now I am a proud Melaleuca customer, and rep. so I do not use the boughten cleaners, I mix my own environmentally and family friendly cleaners to use. Melaleucas stuff is super concentrated and we had figured the formula out, but I think we were a little off; as you could see a lot of bubbles in the cleaner. So we rinsed it a couple times which worked out great, as the soap had time to penetrate the stains!! Of course it isn't perfect, but we didn't have the time to shampoo the carpet "until the water was clear." as the book said to do. I think we would still be at it.
But for the 1st time there is a huge improvement and I am very happy with our purchase.
I can't wait to do the next room and maybe go over the living room again!! But hubby made me promise to wait until he can help me as baby is due to arrive in 9 weeks, and he gets nervous at the end!!
To clean carpets,

This time around I am in more of a supervising position. Which I thought "Great, I won't have to walk 5-8 hours a day!" But I didn't realize the shear amount of paperwork and junk that goes along with supervising.
1st off we have 20 members in our crew, and let me tell you , it is like controlling a class with 20 3-5 year olds! You would think it wouldn't be, but it is. Everyone wants to talk at once, noone is listening to us, and everyone has complaints about something. I just want to scream " LIFE ISN"T ALWAYS FAIR, SO SHUTUP AND SIT DOWN!!" but because I am a mom, I know that won't work :) So my mom skills have come in very handy with this job.
I can multitask like noones business. I can listen to someone talk complain, while doing my work, I have the patience to not yell at them when they do something I tell them NOT to do, and I can work a long day to get it all done. :)
It is more challenging that I thought it would be, but overall I like it alot.
It is money to help us catch up on bills, and hopefully put some away for a week at the lake!! :)

Woodticks ~ Yuck!
Here is the story behind our 1st woodtick of the season.
I had sent the kids to bed at about 8:00pm ( an hour after the girls normally go to bed) and they had been out of their rooms a couple times already. My daughter, Elizabeth, comes down and I say " what are you doing out of bed?? I dont' want to see you again until morning!" She says to me " there is a bump on my head and I think it is a woodtick." I'm thinking a woodtick this early in the year? whatever, but I proceed to check her head and yes there is a BIG FAT WOODTICK crawling around her head. I yell " OMG it IS a woodtick!" She starts screaming "take it out take it out!!" I for some reason, say "no! that is gross,. I am not touching that big thing." which of course did not go over well at all. So she is screaming, and I am sitting there watching this tick crawl around her head, when daddy comes in and says to both of us. "stop yelling, it is just a woodtick." I say "yeah, but look at the size of him."
So daddy proceeds to try and grab the woodtick off her hair, where he has gotten stuck. Elizabeth is wiggling, and yelling and daddy is trying so hard to not pull her hair. Finally, I realize what daddy is trying to do and I get Elizabeth called down enough to stop moving and have daddy pull the tick out. By this time everyone is out of bed and wondering what the heck is going on. So now we have the tick out and it is crawling around daddys hand. He shows it to her, and then proceeds to get a match and burn it, that is the way we kill them here. Elizabeth looks at it and looks at daddy and says, "what are you going to do with it?" He replys "kill it by burning it." She yells "NO! Don't do that, I want to take it to school tomorrow!" I'm thinking, are you serious!!!!!
So she proceeds to tell us that the school is collecting woodticks for a science exploration. OK but I am not letting that tick go there alive. Elizabeth says to me you are to stick it in tape, so we can see what it looks like and display it. Daddy, lovenly goes to get tape and tape the woodtick in the tape. Elizabeth is holding it in her hand, when the woodtick decides he doesn't want to be taped and crawls OUT OF THE TAPE. I am again yelling "it is not dead and it has escaped!" "It can't escape I taped it." I'm like whatever because it is now crawling on her again. So daddy goes and gets a ziplock baggy to put the tick in. I am like, that thing better seal, because I do NOT want this tick crawling out and all over the house. "Yes, honey, it is sealed."
Ok So we lay the tick in the bag on the table and then let everyone watch it for awhile before we all head back to bed.
Bu this time it is 8:45 and I am all creeped out from some stupid woodtick. We get the kids to bed and our nighttime adventure is over.
Yes, I checked in the morning, and the woodtick was still in the bag. Of course my daughter forgot to take it to school, so it lived her for an extra day, before it made it to the science board.
I am hoping there are very few woodticks around this year, because I'm not sure how many more nighttime adventures I can take! :)

Photo Tagged
Checking over my blog comments, I see I have been photo tagged by Sara. HMMMMMMMM, what is this? I wonder as I investigate more into it.
It looks like a fun little game where I follow some instructions, and then post a certain photo and tell a story about that photo.
This will be interesting as I have photos on my computer since 2002. I have been, in my spare time, trying to copy photos onto cds and delete them from my computer to free up memory. I have also been organizing them and putting them into photo books I can order on-line.
So lets find out what we get, shall we??
Oh don't worry, after the photo and story there will be rules, so you can play along with me! :)
I think I lucked out, as this photo was just taken a couple months ago, when McKayla turned 3 months old. Both my son and I were trying to capture one of her first smiles on camera, this photo was actually taken by Dillon. This is one of the last ones we took for the day, and we had been at it for about 20 mins. trying to get that smile. As you can see it is very tiring work :) Soon after this, she fell asleep, and we did eventually get that smile!
So here are the rules to play along:
1) Go to your photo files, select the 8Th photo folder.
2) Select the 8Th photo in that folder.
3) Post that photo along with the story behind it
4) Then challenge 8 blogging friends to do the same!
Here is the list of 8 blogging friends I picked to play along. If you aren't on the list and want to play along, leave me a comment, so I can check out your photo and story! I love to look at pictures! :)
- Adventures of a mom
- Cars, trucks and teething rings
- From Misery to Happiness
- Milk and Cuddles
- Our Family - From Scratch

Looking forward to seeing all your photos! :)
